Plain bearings

Explore the SKF plain bearings, rod ends and bushings that meet your application’s needs, as well as delivering high reliability, long service life and minimal maintenance.

Plain bearings are used in many industries and across many applications where there is a need to cost-efficiently and reliably meet the challenge of oscillating movements and possible misalignment. From railways, mining and construction equipment, farm and forestry machinery, all the way to forklift trucks and solar power equipment.

Radial spherical plain bearings

Radial spherical plain bearings have an inner ring with a sphered convex outside diameter and an outer ring with a correspondingly sphered but concave inside surface. Their design makes them particularly suitable for bearing arrangements

Angular contact spherical plain bearings

Angular contact spherical plain bearings are inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. Single angular contact spherical plain bearings can only accommodate axial loads acting in one direction and can be separated, enabling the rings to be mounted separately.

Thrust spherical plain bearings

Thrust spherical plain bearings have a convex spherical surface on the shaft washer and a corresponding concave spherical surface in the housing washer. These bearings are intended to accommodate axial loads primarily

Rod ends

Rod ends consist of an eye-shaped head with integral shank that forms a housing for a spherical plain bearing. They are used primarily on the ends of hydraulic or pneumatic pistons to join the cylinder to an associated component.
