Customized thin section bearings
Customized thin section bearings are designed to provide a comprehensive assortment of bearings for a wide range of applications. They are available in three different main bearing categories:
- Reali-Slim TT turntable bearings
- BB series metric ball bearings
- KT series tapered roller bearings

Product Types
Features and benefits
- Thin cross section
Small-scale Reali-Slim TT turntable thin section bearings offer a very compact design and beneficial design versatility. - Lightweight
Reali-Slim TT turntable thin section bearings can enable significant weight savings, which may result in cost savings for the overall application. - Corrosion resistance
The bearings are made of stainless steel and are therefore corrosion resistant when exposed to moisture and other harsh environments. - Low friction
- High stiffness
The extended cross section increases stiffness. - High running accuracy
- Quick and easy to mount
Reali-Slim TT turntable thin section bearings
Reali-Slim TT turntable thin section bearings have inner and outer ring raceway designs that enable them to accommodate radial, axial and moment loads simultaneously. They are based on a sealed four-point contact ball bearing and are available in three different designs:
- bearings without a gear (fig. 1)
- bearings with an external (outer ring) gear (fig. 2)
- bearings with an internal (inner ring) gear (fig. 3)
Kaydon standard Reali-Slim TT turntable thin section bearings are made of stainless steel. The bearings can be customized to meet specific application needs.
Features and benefits
- Thin cross section
In applications where space is limited, BB series metric thin section bearings offer a very compact design. - Lightweight
BB series bearings can enable significant weight savings, which may result in cost savings for the overall application. - Dimensionally interchangeable with cross-roller bearings
With additional flexibility in design, BB series bearings should be considered as a practical alternative to the use of cross-roller bearings. - Low friction
- High stiffness
- High running accuracy
BB series metric thin section ball bearings
BB series metric thin section ball bearings are based on a four-point contact ball bearing. They are designed to match the bores and widths of common cross-roller bearings. With additional features not commonly available in standard cross-roller bearings, BB series bearings provide beneficial design flexibility. The bearings can be further customized to meet specific application needs.
Features and benefits
- Thin cross section
In applications where space is limited and high load carrying capacity is required, KT series tapered roller bearings offer a compact design. - Lightweight
KT series tapered roller bearings can enable significant weight savings, which may result in cost savings for the overall application. - Rigid bearing assembly
KT series tapered roller bearings are typically adjusted against a second tapered roller bearing. By applying a preload, a rigid bearing assembly can be achieved.
KT series thin section tapered roller bearings
KT series thin section tapered roller bearings are designed primarily for radial load applications. Since these bearings have a contact angle of approximately 12° under axial load, they can accommodate a reasonable amount of axial load.
Tapered roller bearings feature a cup and cone assembly. The cup is comprised of the outer ring and the cone assembly consists of an inner ring, rollers and a cage. The projection lines of the raceways meet at a common point on the bearing axis defined by the contact angle α (apex point A, fig. 1) to provide a true rolling action and therefore low frictional moments during operation.
KT series tapered roller bearings can be customized to meet specific application needs.
